A London start-up developing post-COVID employment technology has closed its second funding round.

GENIE, an automated talent agent for the creative industry, raised £870,000 to take total funding to date to around £1.75m.

It has also announced the appointment of Sir John Hegarty as Chairman to guide the launch of its SaaS subscription service.

Founded in 2019, its machine learning-enabled platform matches hiring companies – including Philips, Warner Music Group and Saatchi & Saatchi – to industry talent and coordinates the process via a messaging service.

It says its fastest booking was made in just seven minutes.

“Over the last 20 years the creative industries have undergone seismic change. Part of that change is the growth in freelance – allowing companies and individuals to work faster, smarter and more efficiently,” said Hegarty.

Accessing that talent with speed and effectiveness is vital. GENIE is the answer. Their technology and years of experience deliver best-in-class creative talent. Serving both creative ambition and business growth.”
