Ride hailing app Gett appoints new chairman, hints at IPO

Ride-hailing app Gett has appointed Amos Genish as its new chairman ahead of a potential IPO.

The London-based firm, founded in 2010 has made Genish independent chairman of the board.

Genish is a Senior Partner at the leading investment bank of Brazil BTG Pactual, and a veteran telecoms executive (former CEO of Telecom Italia, Telefônica Brasil, and GVT).

Dave Waiser, Gett founder and CEO said he was thrilled with the appointment had hinted at the firm’s plans to go public, which he has previously said will likely be in the first quarter of 2020, or when the company begins to turn a profit.

“I am thrilled that Amos has agreed to lead the Gett board as Chairman at this exciting moment for our company as we move towards operational profitability globally and a potential IPO.

“While most of Gett’s competitors’ losses increase, at Gett – in contrast – the bottom line is improving while net revenues continue to grow.”

As co-founder and CEO of technology-focused telecommunications firm GVT, Genish drove the innovative company’s growth across Brazil, co-led its successful IPO and sale to Vivendi in 2009, as well as the $9.2 billion acquisition by Telefonica in 2014.

Having gone on to lead Telefonica Brazil as CEO, Genish most recently served as Telecom Italia’s CEO and General Manager and holds several board positions in the telecoms, banking and media sectors.

“The business is well run, disciplined and uniquely different with strong growth potential,” said Genish.

“I am looking forward to leading the board and working with Dave and his team to support the vision and extract Gett’s full potential.”
