BusinessCloud can reveal its InsurTech 50 innovation ranking for 2022. 

Readers of the online technology publication and an independent judging panel have together decided the 50 companies blazing a technology trail in the insurance industry.

The InsurTech 50 celebrates businesses of all sizes creating original tech for insurance advice, products and claims.

CDL Group, which powers transactions across the insurance and financial services markets to deliver competitive advantage, tops the ranking. The Stockport-headquartered firm’s ecosystem drives substantial growth at many of the UK insurance sector’s most profitable companies.

FloodFlash (London), a tech-enabled flood insurance provider, is second ahead of Humn (London), a data-driven risk platform providing contextual assessment of driver performance.

hubb (Glasgow) and Anansi (London) round out the top five.

Ripe Thinking, based in Manchester, is 11th. The company delivers specialist insurance solutions for the leisure, lifestyle and SME markets through its own cloud-based distribution platform.

BusinessCloud called on its readers to vote for companies from the 80-strong shortlist and saw around 700 votes pour in.   

A combination of these votes and choices from an independent judging panel determined the top 50. 

Our FinTech 50 and RegTech 50 rankings were decided alongside the InsurTech 50 and celebrate businesses creating tech for the finance industry and compliance respectively.

The judging panel for the rankings was comprised of:
