Phil McCabe has built an £11 million turnover business from its base in Salford without a penny of outside investment.
McCabe founded Hybrid Solutions Group in 2013 and the company now employs 80 people. Next week, at FUEL Manchester, he will reveal the secrets to his success.
McCabe is also a founding patron of Salford Youth Zone, while Hybrid Solutions is a member of The 5% Club, demonstrating its commitment to apprenticeships and formal training pathways.
This week he was featured on BusinessCloud’s Northern Leaders list for 2026, while he was also one of our Founder 250 stars earlier this year.
On Wednesday 28th October, he will speak on the breakfast panel at FUEL Manchester – you can sign up for free at the link below – while a select group of founders will also pick his brains in the following invite-only growth planning masterclasses.

“Without trying to sound like an acceptance speech for the Oscars, the [Northern Leaders] award is a reflection of the business we have built over the last 13 years and the people who work day in day out, delivering for our customers,” McCabe wrote on LinkedIn.
Hybrid Solutions supports national operators, developers, estate owners and infrastructure partners across transport, rail, highways, build-to-rent, education, healthcare and complex residential environments.
“In the beginning, I didn’t have a big vision or grand plan to run a group of businesses. My first company failed at 23. I learned more from that than anything since,” he said.
“Then I spent the early part of my career working in my dad’s telecoms business (Passcomm) before losing him. Thirteen years later, I bought his business back and brought it into Hybrid.”
Father-of-three McCabe also finds time to host the Raise the Floor podcast, learning from founders and other professionals with incredible stories.
FUEL Manchester is sponsored by GM Business Growth Hub, S&W and Nybble, with support from Bruntwood SciTech.
