BusinessCloud’s latest episode of The Naked Founder podcast, featuring Kids Planet founder Clare Roberts OBE, is climbing the podcast charts.
The episode was released on Tuesday and immediately entered Apple’s UK entrepreneurship podcast chart at No. 68.
By Thursday, it had climbed another 10 places to No. 58 and also entered Apple’s Ireland entrepreneurship podcast chart at No. 188.
The wide-ranging interview is already the second best-performing episode in the history of The Naked Founder podcast – and the best-performing at the same stage after release.
Roberts, who has also been included in BusinessCloud’s Founder 250 list, is one of the UK’s most successful female founders, having grown the business to more than £200m in turnover.
Despite her success, Roberts said one of the biggest compliments people can pay her is to say she’s ‘normal’.
“Just because you’ve founded a business or you’re a CEO does not mean you’re God or unapproachable,” she told The Naked Founder podcast.
“You should be able to talk to everyone. Whoever you are in the organisation, I treat everyone with equal respect.”
Roberts founded the business with her dad, John, in 2008 when she was struggling to find flexible childcare for her daughter and decided there had to be a better way.
Today, Lymm-based Kids Planet has grown to more than 300 nurseries and is now the UK’s second-biggest nursery provider, with responsibility for more than 40,000 children.
In the interview with Chris Maguire, Roberts also spoke about:
- Mistaking menopause for early-onset dementia after experiencing ‘brain fog’;
- Why she doesn’t like women-only awards;
- Running 30km a week for her physical and mental wellbeing; and
- Why politics needs to be done differently.
The five star-rated Naked Founder podcast is sponsored by Financielle – The Home of Money for Women. It is produced by Dan Brown.
