Marketing automation company Dotdigital Group plc has appointed Alistair Gurney as chief financial officer and to its board of directors.

London-based Dotdigital, which provides tools for email newsletters and featured on our MarTech 50 ranking, said he will begin the roles on 19th September.

In February, previous CFO Paraag Amin had informed the board of directors of his intention to leave to pursue “new opportunities”.

Finance director George Kasparian has assumed CFO responsibilities in the interim period.

Gurney brings significant experience in private equity-backed technology businesses, joining the London-listed group from Unit4, a global SaaS ERP vendor, where he was director of financial planning & analysis.

Prior to Unit4, he was director of commercial finance at IRIS Software, one of the UK’s largest private software companies. He has been responsible for the P&L of several companies, was central in the appraisal and execution of M&A, and played a leading role in two substantial exits.

“We are delighted to welcome Alistair to Dotdigital. His significant finance experience within technology businesses will be a valuable attribute as we work to realise our long-term growth ambitions. I look forward to working with Alistair to drive the business forward,” said Milan Patel, CEO.

Dotdigital, which is eyeing growth in North America, recently appointed a new chairman while revealing 8% growth in revenues for the 2022 financial year and 22% increase in email messaging volumes to 29.4 billion.

Gurney said: “I am thrilled to be joining Dotdigital and look forward to working with the team to help deliver the next phase of growth. Dotdigital has huge potential and I am excited to be joining at this stage of its journey.”
