A Manchester-based AI-native company that streamlines operational workflows has passed five million cases processed for regulated firms in under three years – built entirely without a sales team, marketing function or paid acquisition.
Saber was founded in January 2024 by Jakub Lenski and Mitchel Shephard after completing a one-off audit for a law firm. Tasked with auditing a 200,000-claim book by hand – a job estimated to take six weeks to complete 10% of – Saber produced a one-off automation workflow that processed the entire book in under three days.
Saber has since evolved into a Manchester team of 32 – mostly engineers – and a product that saves 96.3% of time per case. Concerns over AI’s accuracy can be a barrier to adoption, making human oversight a key component of Saber’s design.
At a time when 42% of companies abandon most AI initiatives before production, Saber goes live on a real production workflow in approximately two weeks and provides measurable return on investment right from deployment.
Lenski puts that down to how the software gets deployed rather than the models themselves.
“Most automation projects in regulated sectors take six months to go live,” said Lenski. “By then the workflow has moved on, the team has lost faith, and the original business case is unrecognisable.
“We built Saber so the platform is live on a real production workflow within two weeks – and the customer proves the savings on their own data before signing anything commercial.”
Saber integrates with systems a firm already uses rather than replacing them, which is why deployment is measured in weeks. The solution is a horizontal operational layer, built to streamline high-volume processing work rather than assisting in specialist applications, meaning that Saber can work across industries.
Sabers’s continued business expansion is already underway, actively reaching into the insurance, pensions administration and credit sectors.
“We didn’t have a marketing function, a sales team or a pipeline,” said Lenski. “What we had was a result a customer could verify on their own data in two weeks. In this market, that proves to be more persuasive than anything else.”
