Swedish legal AI unicorn Legora, which acquired London-based Wexler AI earlier this year, has raised $550m in Series E funding at an $8.8bn valuation.
The latest funding round comes just seven months after Legora was valued at $5.5bn following its Series D raise in March 2026.
Founded in 2023 and formerly known as Leya, Legora launched its platform in October 2024 and has rapidly established itself as one of the world’s fastest-growing legal technology companies.
The business has a growing presence in the UK and strengthened its position in the market in July with the acquisition of London-based fact intelligence platform Wexler AI.
Legora now employs more than 1,000 people across 18 offices worldwide, with its technology used by more than 140,000 legal professionals at over 2,400 law firms and in-house legal teams across more than 80 markets.
The $550m Series E was led by Atreides Management, with participation from new investors including Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners and J.P. Morgan.
All its major existing investors also participated, including Accel, Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, ICONIQ, Insight Venture Partners, Menlo Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Sands Capital.
The funding follows a period of exceptional growth.
Legora increased its annual recurring revenue (ARR) from $1m to $100m in less than 18 months, which it claims is faster than any other enterprise software company selling through a direct sales team.
It then added another $100m in ARR in less than six months, taking the total to more than $200m.
Max Junestrand (pictured), CEO and co-founder of Legora, said: “The opportunity in legal is enormous and we are still early. AI is changing the role of the lawyer, with more time for judgment and advice, and it is reshaping how law firms and in-house legal teams are organised and how their work gets done.
“We intend to lead that shift in the US and globally. We chose investors who share our long-term view and know what it takes to build a lasting company. They are the right partners for the years ahead.”
The new investment will support Legora’s continued international expansion, particularly in North America, where it has offices in New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Toronto and Mexico City.
The company also plans to strengthen its operations across Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Further investment will be directed towards Legora aOS, its agentic operating system designed for legal professionals and AI agents.
This will include developing new products covering agentic intake, horizon scanning and legal research.
Gavin Baker, managing partner and CIO at Atreides, said: “Legal is a sophisticated market with demanding buyers, and the bar for software is high.
“Legora has become the platform that law firms and in-house legal teams adopt and then expand across their organisations, and it has done so while growing at remarkable speed.
“Legora has also built a sustainable business along the way, with the discipline to scale fast and stay efficient. We are excited to support the team as Legora enters its next stage of growth in the US and globally.”
