The price of leading cryptocurrency XRP leapt 11% in 24 hours while the other majors barely moved.

Bitcoin has held its position just above $40,000 after leaping 8% in the previous 24-hour period.

Rumours at the weekend of a potential move by Amazon to accept payments in BTC had sent collective crypto prices soaring, moving BTC away from the $30,000 trap door which is considered by many to be a benchmark if there is to be another crypto winter.

Like the world’s most valuable digital currency – which is 26% up over seven days – the other top 8 coins gained less than half a percentage point from Wednesday to Thursday.

Cardano (ADA) remains at $1.28 with a seven-day price which is up 11%.

Meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE) is just below 21c and 9% higher than its price seven days ago.

The cryptocurrency market gained just over 0.5% in value in the last 24 hours, with the 11,000 coins worth a collective $1.55 trillion.
