Ethereum and XRP were the big winners among the cryptocurrency majors in the last 24 hours.

At the time of writing (7am UK), Ripple’s XRP coin is at 75 cents after a 5% rise which puts it 11c higher than its price on Wednesday and 24% up in a week.

Ether (ETH), the world’s second most valuable crypto, added $100 (5%) to top $2,400 and is 16% up in a week.

Market leader Bitcoin dropped below $40,000 after a 1% dip but is 22% up in a week.

Rumours at the weekend of a potential move by Amazon to accept payments in BTC had sent collective crypto prices soaring, moving BTC away from the $30,000 trap door which is considered by many to be a benchmark if there is to be another crypto winter.

Binance Coin (BNB) is up 7% over seven days with a price of $320 after rising 2% in the last 24 hours.

Cardano (ADA) reached $1.30 with a 1% rise which puts its seven-day price at +8%.

Meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE) is just below 21c and 5% higher than its price seven days ago after adding a half percentage point to its value.

The cryptocurrency market gained just over 1.5% in value in the last 24 hours, with the 11,000 coins worth a collective $1.57 trillion.

Quant (QNT) gained the most among the top 100 coins, climbing 17% to $131 – 78% up over seven days.
