Edinburgh-based accountancy software firm FreeAgent has confirmed it will be the headline sponsor of the annual Newcastle Startup Week festival for a second year in 2020.
The sponsorship will enable the Newcastle Startup Week team to run their five-day festival and their monthly Founders’ Friday events for the 4th year in May 2020.
Founded in 2007, the firm provides online account and money management software to small businesses and freelancers.
Last year the firm was acquired by the Royal Bank of Scotland for £53m.
Paul Lancaster, Founder and Event Producer at Newcastle Startup Week said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have FreeAgent’s support for a second year in a row.
“We share the same commitment and passion for helping entrepreneurs and small business owners pursue their dreams and fulfil their potential.
“I think there’s a huge opportunity for us to bring the startup and scaleup communities in the North East of England and South East of Scotland much closer together through our events and I’m excited about developing this idea further with FreeAgent’s support.”
Karen Melville, Senior Events Manager at FreeAgent, also added: “We loved everything about Newcastle Startup Week 2019 and it was the perfect audience for FreeAgent.
“We’re delighted to be the Headline Sponsor for Newcastle Startup Week 2020 and to continue our sponsorship of Founders’ Friday up to April 2021.”
The fourth annual Newcastle Startup Week festival will take place across multiple venues in Newcastle and Gateshead on 18th – 22th May 2020.
