Carl Ennis, who left his role as chief executive of £4bn-turnover Siemens UK in April, has taken on a new role.
Ennis, who spent more than 25 years at the technology giant, has joined the High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Catapult as a non-executive director.
HVM Catapult works with business, research and government to transform UK manufacturing.
As a board member, Ennis will provide scrutiny and oversight of the organisation’s pursuit of its strategic priorities for UK industry, including the clean energy transition, national security capability, healthy living and industrial sustainability.
Ennis started his career at Rochdale Training 41 years ago and was appointed CEO of Siemens UK in January 2020.
He spent more than six years as CEO, where he led the company’s UK and Ireland operations, with more than 11,000 employees.
He also represented the voice of industry on a number of panels, including the government’s Net Zero Council and Energy Efficiency Taskforce.
Ennis replaces Frank Ludwig, CEO of Airbus Aerostructures GmbH, who is stepping down following the completion of his term as a board member.

HVM Catapult has also announced changes to its executive leadership team as it sharpens its focus on delivering the government’s modern industrial strategy.
Ian Malcomson, who joined HVM Catapult last month as chief finance officer (CFO), brings considerable experience in leading complex, international organisations, including most recently as CFO at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.
He joins Katherine Bennett CBE, chief executive officer; Lauren Flanagan, chief corporate affairs officer; and Dr Lynne O’Hare, chief operations officer, on the executive leadership team.
