Avalanche was the big winner in the last 24 hours as the cryptocurrency market gained almost 4% in value.

AVAX, which enjoyed large gains last week to top $100 by Friday, was one of few coins to grow over the weekend.

It is now at $117 at the time of writing (7am UK) following a 12% rise in the last 24 hours, which puts it 50% up over seven days.

Terra (LUNA), another big winner over the weekend, gained another 7% to approach $83 and is 49% higher than its value a week ago.

LUNA is now ninth in the cryptocurrency valuation table ahead of Avalanche, with Polkadot just outside the top 10.

Polkadot (DOT) enjoyed only a slight gain in the last 24 hours to $24.57 and is 5% down on its price last Tuesday.

Market leader Bitcoin (BTC) gained 5% to around $48,400, which leaves it 4% up in a week.

Ethereum (ETH), the world’s second most valuable coin, topped $4,000 again with a 4% rise and is 8% up over seven days.

Solana (SOL) returned to above $180 with a 3% gain – up 19% in a week – while Cardano (ADA) rose 2% to $1.26, 4% up on last Monday.


Ripple (XRP) was up 2% to hit 90 cents – 15% up in a week – while Binance Coin (BNB) gained 1% to $529 and is also 1% up over seven days.

Meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE) grew 2% to around 17c, which leaves it 8% up on its price last Tuesday. Its Ethereum-based spinoff SHIBA INU (SHIB) gained 11% and is where it was seven days ago.

There were no significant losses among the top 100 coins, while Holo (HOT), Helium (HNT), THORChain (RUNE) and IoTeX (IOTX) all gained between 12-15% in the last 24 hours.

The overall market cap of the almost 15,900 coins is at $2.24 trillion, up 3.8% in the last 24 hours.
