The recovery of the cryptocurrency market quickly ground to a halt but one major crypto enjoyed gains in the last 24 hours.

Following widespread falls earlier this week, the top 100 coins were a sea of green from Wednesday heading into Thursday.

However most of the 2% gain the market made in that period was wiped out in the last 24 hours.

At the time of writing (7am UK), the overall market capitalisation of the approximate 10,800 coins is at $1.31 trillion, down 2%. That compares unfavourably with its $1.42tr valuation on Monday morning.

The surprise winner on Friday morning is Binance Coin (BNB), which rose 4% to $315 and is more than 1% up in a week. It is the only coin in the top 10 to gain value in the last 24 hours, and the only one to be up over seven days.

Meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE), which recently dropped to eighth in the valuation league table below stablecoin USDC, lost the most ground with a 4% dip which takes it back towards 18 cents. It is 11% down over the course of seven days.

Bitcoin (BTC), the world’s most valuable cryptocurrency, shed more than 2% to drop below $32,000 threshold. It is 4% down over seven days.

Ether (ETH) dipped 2% and is now $70 away from its $2,000 target, which also puts it 10% down on a week ago.

Ripple’s XRP coin fell less than a percentage point and is below 61c, which puts it 2% down on last Friday morning.

Cardano (ADA) is at $1.22 after a 2% fall which means its seven-day price is down 8%.

Telcoin (TEL) fared the worst of the top 100 coins, dropping 17% in 24 hours which means it has lost almost a third of its value in a week.

Among those to buck the trend was NEM (XEM), which climbed 19% to 14 cents and is up 17% in a week; and BakeryToken (BAKE), which is at $2.26 after a 14% rise. It is 10% up over seven days.
