Fast-growing environmental consultancy Contollo Group has taken nearly 10,000 sq ft of office space in Manchester’s XYZ Building.
Founded by CEO Ruth Percival in 2024, Contollo has grown to £35m turnover in just 18 months on the back of five acquisitions: Abacus, MBA, TACE, ESP and KAM.
The company now employs 230 people across the UK and has taken a lease on just under 10,000 sq ft of fitted office space at XYZ until February 2032.
Ruth Percival, CEO of Contollo Group, said: “As Contollo continues to expand nationally and internationally, consolidating our North West operations is a strategic step in strengthening one of our most dynamic regions.
“Rebranding all our offices across the country has created a single, unified group identity, and this move further deepens that integration.
“The North West is a major engine of innovation and delivery for us, and this investment reinforces our long-term commitment to the region as we scale.”
The move brings three of the group’s specialist consultancies, Abacus Cost Management, KAM Project Consultants and ESP, together in the heart of Manchester’s business district, creating a flagship city-centre hub for clients across the region.
Elis Goodfellow, Contollo CCO and director at Abacus Cost Management, said: “Moving into XYZ in Spinningfields marks an exciting new chapter for Abacus.
“Being co-located with other Contollo businesses will unlock even greater opportunities for joint delivery, shared expertise and client value. It’s a brilliant step forward for our people and our clients as we continue to grow as part of the group.”
Alongside the Spinningfields move, TACE, also part of the Contollo Group, is expanding significantly, taking an additional floor within its current building at Stanley Green Business Park in Cheadle.
The expansion reflects the rapid scale-up of the group and growing demand for its mechanical and engineering services.
Meanwhile, Contollo’s head office in Knutsford, home to the group’s finance and central operations, is undergoing a major refurbishment to support the next phase of growth and integration.
Sam Corby, office agent at JLL, said: “This is another strong example of the continued demand we’re seeing for high-quality fitted workspace across Manchester city centre, particularly in prime locations such as Spinningfields. Businesses are increasingly prioritising offices that are ready to use. This transaction delivered exactly that for Contollo Group.”
Contollo works with a wide range of North West clients, including Muse, Glenbrook, Harworth, Capital & Centric and Alliance Leisure.
