Appointments

Market leading CRM software provider, Capsule, has appointed Steven Ledgerwood as CEO.

With 20 years of executive-level experience in nurturing technology companies and teams, he will help accelerate Capsule’s growth across the US and Europe.

He succeeds current CEO and co-founder Duncan Stockdill, who has led the company since its start 13 years ago. Stockdill will remain as a director and on Capsule’s board of advisors.

The former Chief Revenue Officer of AI-powered search company, Findologic (which was recently acquired by Nosto), Ledgerwood joins Capsule with extensive SaaS experience having held senior executive and board-level roles at Conductor, Exponea (now BloomReach), Emarsys (now SAP) and Smart Focus (now Actito).

His strong track record leading commercial organisations across key global markets means he is well placed to drive the development and performance of Capsule’s smart, yet simple, online CRM solution.

Ledgerwood said: “It’s an exciting time to be in the CRM space, particularly for SMEs that Capsule is well placed to support. The online service is really easy to use and built with advanced functionality, but with a simple interface so that users can maximise the value quickly.

“I have a huge amount of respect for the founders who have built a people-first culture, with a high performing team and an impressive global footprint that creates very happy customers. I’m looking forward to leading the organisation into the next chapter of growth.”

Capsule was founded with the vision of being an easy-to-use CRM that enabled businesses to get started with a powerful solution in minutes, not months.

With the acquisition and integration of the marketing tool Transpond this year, Capsule now also offers that same experience for marketers.

The company has also recently added project management functionality, making Capsule a single platform that supports all employees throughout a business, from customer management and sales through to marketing and project management.

Stockdill said: “I’m thrilled with the appointment of Steve as our new CEO. Steve is a proven technology leader with a significant sales, marketing and customer success background that will benefit the product and the business. I look forward to working with him as Capsule continues its journey to the forefront of CRM, sales and marketing tools.

“I’m also very proud of the Capsule team. We started with just three founders, and bootstrapped the business to over 10,000 customers. ]

CFO appointed at MarTech 50 firm Attest

“We achieved all that with a relatively small but high quality team and a focus on making sure the customer experience was top notch. In 2020 we brought in an investor which has helped us accelerate our growth and expand our vision for the platform, all while maintaining a clear focus on the customer experience.”

Capsule was launched in 2009 following the founders’ frustration with existing CRM services that were either overly simplistic or far too complex for most businesses.
