Users of a farm management platform are benefiting from enhanced data connectivity thanks to a new partnership.

MyFarm, which is currently has 4,000 users, was created in 2012 as a free online service offering detailed crop recording, market data and expert analysis to customers of crop production and grain marketing business Frontier Agriculture.

After several years the technology was due an enhancement – hence the new partnership with IT services consultancy WHISHWORKS.

Agriculture is an incredibly challenging industry for arable farmers, with many considerations at play in farm and crop management, as well as environmental and political factors, planning effective crop rotations, deciding when to sell, and keeping up with legislation.

The consultancy says the new optimised version of MyFarm pulls data from a number of data sources through 150 APIs, also serving MyMarkets and MyCrop platforms, leading to simpler data management and analysis.

This allows them to make informed business decisions and ensures their farm and grain management is both efficient and resilient.

“We do everything we can to provide expert advice, market commentary and efficient systems for our customers,” said Paul Frost, IT Director at Lincoln-headquartered Frontier Agriculture.

“WHISHWORKS has been able to expertly accelerate the process around creating a platform to facilitate that.

“They gave a structure to the development and launch of MyFarm that cut through many of the challenges we were facing, and our team is constantly supported by experts behind the frontline.”

Frontier Agriculture has more than 1,100 staff members across 46 UK sites and an annual turnover of around £1.5 billion.
