Brothers Tobie and Morgan Hitchcock have always had a low tolerance for things that don’t work properly. On one family holiday in Switzerland the hotel Wi-Fi didn’t work so Tobie bought some tools and rewired the entire hotel network. They founded SurrealDB in 2021/22, which is an AI-native, multi-model database. Earlier this year SurrealDB raised $23m in a Series A extension, bringing it total investment to date to $44m.
