Bill Holmes graduated with a degree in biochemistry from Leeds University in 1985 before joining Esso Petroleum on its sales and marketing graduate scheme. In January 1990 after just over four years with Esso he left to found UK Fuels above a hairdressing salon in the village of Holmes Chapel in Cheshire. In 2013 Radius was formed from the merger of more than 20 group companies and it now has operations across 19 countries in five continents. In October 2023, Holmes stepped up to become executive chairman.
