Polkadot continued to defy the general falls in the cryptocurrency market in the last 24 hours.
DOT, one of only two major coins to gain value over the Christmas holidays, is at $29.95 at the time of writing (7am UK) after gaining 4% since Monday morning.
DOT is 2% up in a week and was at $27.50 immediately prior to Christmas.
Terra (LUNA), another coin which enjoyed significant growth prior to Christmas, moved from $87 before the holidays to $88.60 today.
However it has lost 3% of its value in the last 24 hours and is 5% down over seven days.
Market leader Bitcoin (BTC) dropped 1% in the last 24 hours and is 6% down in a week. It is sitting at just above $46,300, compared with $48,350 before Christmas.
Ethereum (ETH), the world’s second most valuable coin, also dropped 2% from Monday to around $3,750 and is 5% down over seven days. It is $200 down on its price before Christmas.
Ripple’s XRP coin is at 83 cents, compared with $1 before the holidays, following a 2% fall in the last 24 hours which equates to a 7% seven-day dip.
Cardano (ADA) shed 3% to $1.31, 10% down on last Tuesday, and 4c below its pre-Christmas price.
Avalanche (AVAX) is at $106, 5% down in 24 hours and 7% in a week. A pre-Christmas surge saw it top $121 immediately before the holidays.
Solana (SOL) is at $168 following a 3% drop, which leaves it 13% down in a week and $12 below where it was pre-Christmas.
Binance Coin (BNB) lost 3% in the last 24 hours to $510, $20 below its pre-holidays position and 7% down over seven days.
Meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE) dropped 1% in the last 24 hours to 17c, half a cent down on before Christmas. Its Ethereum-based spinoff SHIBA INU (SHIB) dipped 3% and is 12% down in a week.
The overall market cap of the more than 16,300 coins is at $2.21 trillion, down 1.3% in the last 24 hours.
