My Digital Accounts is a payroll and accounting software package specifically designed for the temporary labour market – over 50,000 payslips were processed through our software in October 2019 and over 2,500 limited company accounting records are maintained on our cloud platform.
Having operated in the gig economy as an accountant for many years, founder John Whelan was well aware that normal accounting software packages do not cater for this market in any meaningful way with much of the accounting work being completed off-line using the accountant’s favourite tool: Microsoft Excel.
We therefore embarked on a specialist software design project and My Digital Accounts is the result! The software was launched in March 2016 and is specifically designed for accountants and payroll firms servicing the contractor and temporary labour market!
My Digital Accounts (MDA’s) strategy can be summarised as follows: “To become the leading provider of payroll and accounting software to the gig Economy” by:
- Embracing HMRC’s Making Tax Digital initiative
- Providing recruitment agencies and accounting providers with a fast payroll processing tool that integrates seamlessly with their existing systems
- Using bank transactions to automatically pre-populate accounting records
- As far as is practical, utilising cash accounting methods to reduce complexity and errors
- To develop sustainable software solutions for our clients, maintain dialogue with HMRC and provide proactive advice to our clients on practical responses to emerging legislation
Our intention is to embrace HMRC’s initiatives and make coping with the rules, simpler for our users for example, IR35 assessments and payment calculations can be processed through our software.
