Appointments

Food delivery company Deliveroo has appointed Devesh Mishra as chief product and technology officer.

Mishra joins from Amazon, where he has worked for the past 16 years and held a number of senior roles, and will have responsibility for Deliveroo’s tech org, which contains the company’s engineering, data science, design and product development functions.

Starting in early September, he will report directly to the CEO, Will Shu, and sit on the listed firm’s executive team.

Deliveroo’s chief technology officer, Dan Winn, will continue in that role, working closely with Mishra, while current chief product officer, Akshay Navle, is leaving the company to pursue another opportunity at a high growth scale-up in the FinTech space.

Most recently, Mishra has been VP, global supply chain at Amazon, overseeing a team of thousands made up of engineers, data scientists and product managers, operating a supply chain spanning 185 markets.

He has built and operated the world’s most technologically advanced supply chain, using data analytics, predictive technology and machine learning to scale Amazon’s retail and marketplace business.

Prior to this, as director for Amazon’s WW inventory buying and sourcing, he was responsible for over 200 product lines in 9 countries, supporting +$40 billion of revenue. Deliveroo is also now creating 400 additional high-skilled tech jobs across a range of skill sets, including software engineers, product managers, user researchers, designers, and data scientists.

“Devesh is a world class tech talent and we are delighted that he is joining the team,” said Shu. “He has unique and unmatched experience in how technology can help to scale a business and deliver world-leading consumer experiences. He will help take Deliveroo to the next stage in our journey.

“Devesh will work with the team to ensure we are delivering unique experiences for our consumers, restaurant and grocery partners, and riders, as well as developing new innovations as we seek to become the definitive online food company.”

Mishra added: “I’m humbled and excited to join Will and the Deliveroo team to become the ‘definitive food company’.

“I’m a builder at heart and love building cutting-edge technology and products to provide the best customer experience and scale businesses globally. We are at the inflection point in how our customers eat and their relationship with food.
“I’m excited to be part of a company leading that change in such a large and important market. Deliveroo has reached a super impressive scale with an impressive growth rate, but there is a lot of opportunity ahead and lots of building to do.

“I am thrilled to be joining this winning team and contributing to the entrepreneurial and innovation culture.”

Deliveroo works with more than 115,000 restaurants and grocery partners, as well as 100,000 riders. Headquartered in London, it has around 2,000 employees in offices around the globe.
