Bitcoin has dropped more than 8% in value in 24 hours, with almost every other crypto coin also falling.
BTC fell from $54,440 at this time (7am) yesterday to $49,644.
Bitcoin Gold (BTG) was the only digital currency to grow significantly as it climbed a third to $111.
Headline-grabbing Dogecoin (DOGE) – created as a joke – was immersed in the sea of red, down 26% to almost 20c after breaking the 40c barrier only days ago.

Likewise Ripple (XRP), which nosedived more than 20% in 24 hours to almost $1. XRP is down 38% on a week ago.
Ethereum (ETH) is valued at $2,220, down 9.4% (24 hours) and down 9% (7 days).
