UrbanChain was founded in 2017 and headquartered at Manchester Science Park. UrbanChain has built an Ofgem-licensed energy platform that uses intelligent matching and verified traceability to connect renewable generators directly with consumers on a half-hourly basis. Dr Somayeh Taheri founded UrbanChain after working as a research scientist on GM Mini-Lab in collaboration with GM Combined Authority.
