Liverpool tech hub Baltic Creative is adding nine new studios to benefit creative and digital industries.

The Baltic Creative Community Interest Company is to redevelop 16 Jordan Street, adding 5,809sq/ft of net lettable space on top of its original 45,000sq/ft which currently houses over 133 businesses.

The NorthWest tech scene is growing rapidly and Baltic’s original space has been fully let since November 2013.

The redevelopment is expected to be completed next month and will unlock a second pipeline development at 22 Jordan Street.

When refurbished, 22 Jordan Street will boast five new shop front mezzanine spaces facing onto Jamaica Street, along with three ground floor studios.

Baltic Creative recently published its five-year business up to 2021, outlining ambitious plans for growth.

Managing director Mark Lawler said: “We have over 90 businesses on our waiting list so 16 Jordan Street not only provides more space in the short term, but unlocks opportunity to redevelop, expand and invest in our existing stock.”

Board chair Erika Rushton added: “The growth and popularity of Baltic Creative, at the heart of the Baltic Triangle, has surpassed our expectations.

“The collaborative atmosphere that businesses here seek, and contribute to, is driving demand in Liverpool’s fast growing, nationally recognised creative and tech cluster.

“This is the first in a pipeline of future developments that will support the growing and emerging businesses in the sector.”
