There are only three days to go until the winners of the inaugural Northern Leaders Awards are revealed.
KPMG’s Manchester office will host the exclusive invite-only event on Thursday 23rd January.
BusinessCloud’s Northern Leaders list recognises the people who have – and continue to make – the biggest positive difference to the North.
A total of 540 names were submitted, which was eventually reduced to a 200-strong list.
The list includes a mixture of household names and unsung community leaders, many of whom will be attending Thursday’s dinner and awards evening.
There are a total of 15 categories and 19 winners, with three categories having regional winners.
The categories are:
- Outstanding Achievement Award
- Politician of the Year
- Growth Champion Awards (x2)
- True Grit Awards(x2)
- Voice for Good Award (x2)
- Community Award
- Property Award
- Sustainability Champion
- Investor Award
- People Award
- Business Champion Awards (x3)
- International Award
- Education Champion Award
- Tech Award
- Overall Northern Leaders Award
The final award will be given to the person who the judges feel embodies the best of the North.
The event will also raise money for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. It was inspired by former footballer Stephen Darby and British Forces veteran Chris Rimmer, who were both diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
Darby, who is married to former England and Manchester City captain Steph Houghton, was diagnosed a few months after their wedding and continues to help other people with MND.
Houghton is included in the Northern Leaders list and will be talking about her career and the work of the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.
The headline sponsor is OBI. The other sponsors are Co-op Live, CG, GM Business Growth Hub and Rochdale Development Agency.
