Cheshire FinTech Monevo has appointed Lee Stretton as chief innovation officer.

Stretton joins the personal credit platform and API from PayPal-backed Raisin UK, which as CTO then MD he grew from a standing start to a company that brokered over £1 billion in savings accounts within two years.

Stretton will be responsible for overseeing product, data and technology for Monevo as well as working closely with the Monevo territory directors on overall strategy.

“I am very excited to welcome Lee to the company,” said Monevo founder and CEO Greg Cox.

“This is a great step for Monevo as we look to move forward and Lee will play a key role in supporting Monevo’s growth and long-term success.”

Raisin UK was launched in 2017 after the acquisition of PBF Solutions by German-founded Raisin in 2017.

In July 2019 the parent company received an investment of €25 million from Goldman Sachs, taking its total investment to €195m and making it the best-funded tech start-up in the savings and investment area in Europe.

Stretton has more than 20 years’ experience in tech and FinTech, having held multiple leadership and director roles in other businesses in the financial services sector.

“I am thrilled to work with Greg and the team,” he said. Monevo is a very exciting proposition and is an organisation with a deep sector expertise and a strong team.

It’s a very agile business aimed at helping give people access to credit and navigate a market that can sometimes be confusing.

Financial inclusion is becoming ever more critical in these complex and extraordinary times, and I am delighted to be joining Monevo through the next phases of their evolution and growth.”
